Throughout your employment within the Emergency Services you will have carried out training and gained experience in a range of fields. The internal qualifications you received are not always recognised outside of the Service.

Services such as the Police are recognising the advantage of aligning internal training and experience with civilian qualifications. Within the Police this has led to the Police Education Qualification Framework. This will help contribute to the professionalism of the police service and put policing in line with other professions with regard to its formal education standards.

There are a range of professional bodies and associations who offer recognised qualifications. It is possible to map some of the internal training received across to a Qualification and Credit Framework. Internal training may give you credits towards an external qualification. For example, Emergency Service staff can translate the leadership skills
